Surender Gupta Dunar organization of Journalism- Congress, Left question supersession in Army Chief choice.

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Sunday condemned the Congress for its attack on the government over the appointment of the new Army Chief , saying there should be no politics with regard to the defence forces. The party asserted that Lt. Gen. Rawat has been elevated keeping in mind the current security scenario.
Stating that the new army chief had been picked from a pool of five senior-most officers, who are all competent, the party said General Rawat's appointment should not be seen as a negative against others.
“They are all competent officers but under the prevailing security scenario, the government found Lt. Gen. Rawat as the most suitable candidate. We will urge to all political parties to not do politics over it,” BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said. “If any party has flouted the democratic norms most, it is the Congress party. BJP has always adhered to democratic norms,” he said.
Congress raises doubts
The appointment of Lt. Gen. B .S. Rawat set off a flurry of reactions with Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari saying every institution has its own dynamics, hierarchy and seniority which is the overriding dynamic of the armed forces — not only in India but everywhere in the world.
“With all due respect to Gen Rawat's professionalism and no personal animus towards anybody, there is a legitimate question on why that supersession taken place,” he said. He said the argument that the Congress too appointed General Vaidya as Army chief over General Sinha (who was the senior in the case) in the 1980s, and, therefore this government too had the right to do so was “complete nonsense.”
“Every situation has its own context and, therefore, nothing can be extrapolated out of context justify a supersession,” Mr. Tewari said.
The Congress leader accused the government of “playing with institutions” and wondered if the appointment was “whimsical cherry picking”.
Contoversial appointments
CPI leader D. Raja also questioned the government's move and said appointments have become controversial. “Appointments in the army have become controversial, the appointments in the judiciary are already controversial, the appointments of Central Vigilance Commissioners, CBI director and to the Central Information Commission — all these top-level appointments are becoming very controversial,” he said. “It is not in the interest of democracy and the country,” he added.

surender gupta dunar organization of journalism: The President-elect's choice fits Benjamin Netanyahu's outlook like a lock fits a key

surender gupta dunar organization of journalism: Don’t even try thinking of Donald Trump’s choice for ambassador to Israel as a diplomat. David M. Friedman is far from that. But he serves very well as a reply in kind, an answer in human form.
It’s like this: For the last three years Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the man who leads Israel, has sent signal after signal that he’s done with peace talks, or ever pulling Israeli troops out of the West Bank. Sometimes these signals were verbal—in the 2015 election campaign, Netanyahu declared flat out that there would be no Palestinian state. More recently the signals arrived in the form of diplomats—men who, like Friedman, had no prior experience in the subtle arts of statecraft, but whose biographies and attitudes said a great deal. In August, Dani Dayan became Israel’s Consul General in New York. To get his stuff, the moving van had to leave Israel and drive across the Green Line into Palestinian territory, where Dayan lived. He is a settler, a Jewish Israeli who moved to the West Bank in order to stake a claim to rocky hills that are also home to some two million Palestinians. In fact, for six years, Dayan headed the settlers’ primary organization, the Yesha Council. Earlier in the year, Brazil rejected his appointment as Israel’s ambassador to Brasilia, citing his settler background.

surender gupta dunar organization of journalism: Centre to fund digital discounts

surender gupta dunar organization of journalism: The Centre has decided to bear the burden imposed on public sector firms on account of the many discounts and incentives offered to promote digital payments.
The plan is to create a new expenditure head in the exchequer’s accounts that will absorb the costs of such measures.
Public sector insurers, oil-marketing firms and others will thus not take a hit on their books for the Centre’s cashless push.
The government has offered many discounts on transaction charges and merchant discount rates that accompany payments using cards or online last week.

More measures

A senior source in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) told The Hindu that this and other measures were being put in place to enable a cashless transactions ecosystem. “Going forward, all government organisations, public sector undertakings and authorities have been advised to review rules and regulations to support digital payments, adopt payment-related solutions and absorb transaction fees and activate payments facility through the ‘Pay Gov India’ if they have such a facility,” said a senior official in the government involved in the exercise.
Most important, however, “all geographical areas across the country have been mapped with banks/bank mitras and ‘dark/grey spots’ (where there are no banks or even banking correspondents) identified. We are also looking at the possibility of providing connectivity through VSAT and other means on a priority basis,” the official said.

surender gupta dunar organization: Parliament reconvenes after long weekend

surender gupta dunar organization: Only three days remain in the winter session of Parliament, and almost no business has been conducted so far. The Income Tax amendment Bill alone was passed in the Lok Sabha as a money Bill, barring which a number of Bills have only been tabled and not taken up for discussion.
Discussions for demonetisation has been listed almost everyday in the Rajya Sabha, only to face disruptions every time the topic is taken up.
But this session has been remarkable for four reasons.
Today's list of business
Rajya Sabha
- Discussion on demonetisation of currency.
- The Appropriation (No. 4) Bill, 2016.
- The Appropriation (No. 5) Bill, 2016.
- The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill, 2014.
- The Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (Prevention and Control) Bill, 2014.
- The Employee's Compensation (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
- The Enemy Property (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2016.
- The Whistle Blowers Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2015.
Lok Sabha
- The report of the joint committee on the Land Acquisition Bill may be presented only on the last day of the Budget session. In July, the presentation was pushed to the last day of the winter session.
- The Constitution (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Orders (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
- The Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
- The Admiralty (Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Bill, 2016.
- The Mental Healthcare Bill, 2016.
- The National Institutes of Technology, Science Education and Research (Second Amendment) Bill, 2016.
- Discussion under rule 193 on demonetisation of currency.

Surender Gupta Dunar organization of journalism: Making of a mammoth tragedy

Surender Gupta Dunar organization of journalism: The decision to demonetise will cause grievous injury to the honest Indian who earns wages in cash. The dishonest black money hoarder will get away with a mere rap on the knuckles

It is said that “money is an idea that inspires confidence”. At the stroke of the midnight hour, on November 9, 2016, the confidence of more than a billion Indians was destroyed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared that more than 85 per cent of the value of money held in notes of Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 was worthless overnight. In one impetuous decision, the Prime Minister has shattered the faith and confidence that hundreds of millions of Indians had reposed in the Government of India to protect them and their money.
The Prime Minister in his address to the nation said, “there comes a time in the history of a country's development when a need is felt for a strong and decisive step,” and propounded two primary reasons for this decision. One was to check “enemies from across the border… using fake currency notes”. The other was to “break the grip of corruption and black money”.
Both these intentions are honourable and deserve to be supported whole-heartedly. Counterfeit currency and black money are as grave a threat to the idea of India as terrorism and social division. They deserve to be extinguished using all the firepower at our disposal. However, the popular saying “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” serves as a useful reminder and warning in this context.
The underlying premise behind the decision of the Prime Minister to render Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 currencies as illegal overnight seems to be this false notion that ‘all cash is black money and all black money is in cash’. This is far from reality. Let us understand why.

Surender gupta dunar organization of journalism - Few people evoke such awe in the peninsula as film stars and cricketers. Capitalising on this appeal, quite a few film stars have ventured into politics. They do have an edge when it comes to winning over the masses, but history has shown that success in cinema or cricket does not necessarily guarantee a smooth passage to power.

South of the Vindhyas, a handful of film personalities have made it to the top in politics; some even had a cult following. In undivided Andhra Pradesh, matinee idol N T Rama Rao (NTR) floated his political party, stormed to power and dominated the political landscape of the state for years; Kannada film star Rajkumar had a profound influence on the political culture of the state though he remained apolitical.

However, the manner in which Tamil film personalities held sway over a people perhaps has no parallel. This was chiefly because the DMK used films to propagate its core ideology — upliftment of the downtrodden. DMK founder C Annadurai and his successor Karunanidhi, both of whom led governments, saw the power of the medium and used it effectively to connect with the people. M G Ramachandran (MGR) dominated the Tamil film industry and was revered by millions, a following he carried into the political arena and later launched the AIADMK.
