surender gupta dunar A look at Trump’s executive order on refugees, immigration

surender gupta dunar President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday making major changes to America’s policies on refugees and immigration.
surender gupta dunar
surender gupta dunar: A look at what Trump ordered-
SYRIA
Mr. Trump’s order directs the State Department to stop issuing visas to Syrian nationals and halts the processing of Syrian refugees. That will remain in effect until Mr. Trump determines that enough security changes have been made to ensure that would-be terrorists can’t exploit weaknesses in the current vetting system.
REFUGEES
Mr. Trump ordered a four-month suspension to America’s broader refugee programme. The suspension is intended to provide time to review how refugees are vetted before they are allowed to resettle in the United States.
Mr. Trump’s order also cuts the number of refugees the United States plans to accept this budget year by more than half, to 50,000 people from around the world.
During the last budget year the U.S. accepted 84,995 refugees, including 12,587 people from Syria. President Barack Obama had set the current refugee limit at 110,000.
surender gupta dunar The temporary halt to refugee processing does include exceptions for people claiming religious persecution, so long as their religion is a minority faith in their country. That could apply to Christians from Muslim-majority countries.

surender gupta dunar Melbourne car deaths: Three killed as driver strikes pedestrians

surender gupta dunar Three people, including a young child, have died after a car deliberately hit pedestrians in central Melbourne, police say.
The wreckage of a car is seen as police cordoned off Bourke Street mall, after a car hit pedestrians in central Melbourne, Australia, January 20, 2017
surender gupta dunar  At least 29 people were injured, among them a baby who is in a critical condition after the car hit a pram.
Police say they rammed the car, shot the driver in the arm and arrested him.
They say the incident was not terror-related, but is believed to be linked to a stabbing in Melbourne's south-east early on Friday.
The car ploughed into the pedestrians in the Bourke St Mall, a busy shopping area, just before 14:00 (03:00 GMT).

Footage broadcast on local media showed a maroon car driving in circles in front of nearby Flinders Street railway station.

surender gupta dunar Three killed, including a child, after car mows down pedestrians in Melbourne

surender gupta dunar Three people have been killed, including a young child, and at least 15 injured after a car drove into pedestrians in Bourke Street, one of the busiest areas in Melbourne’s central business district.
Victoria police confirmed on Friday afternoon the victims were a young child and a man and a woman, both in their 30s. None of the dead were believed to be related.
Victorian police commissioner Graham Ashton said the death toll could rise, as five of the injured were listed as critical, including a child whose pram could be seen lying on the road amid the carnage.
The Royal Children’s hospital said earlier it was treating five casualties, including a two-year-old who was in intensive care and a three-month-old who was undergoing an operation. Figures released by several other Melbourne hospitals put the total number of injured at 25, but in an afternoon media conference Ashton said he knew of 15 injured.
A 26-year-old man was taken into custody with non life-threatening injuries after police rammed his car and fired several shots. Police said the events had no connection with terrorism and the suspect, who was well known to them, had mental health and drug issues.
The chaos began when the man, driving a maroon Commodore, stopped traffic by doing burnouts outside Flinders Street station about 1.30pm local time. He then drove up Swanston Street, turned left down Bourke Street mall and began mowing down pedestrians, police said.

surender gupta dunar Gravitational waves were observed. Einstein was right. Again

A simulation of two black holes colliding.

surender gupta dunar This was the biggest scientific discovery of the year. In February, scientists from LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory) detected the tiny ripples in the fabric of space-time caused by the collision of two unbelievably massive black holes, more than a billion years ago.
Albert Einstein's theory of relativity predicted that gravity would have infinitesimally small waves but he thought them so tiny, they'd never be detected. However, the sensitivity of LIGO, whose mirrors were built in Sydney by CSIRO scientists, allowed for the detection of the gravitational remnant of that collision passing by Earth in two-tenths of a second.
The discovery is opening up a new view on the universe. Up until now we have only been able to see the stars in the electromagnetic spectrum of lightwaves. We will now be able to view the universe using gravitational waves.

This artist's impression shows the planet Proxima b orbiting the red dwarf star Proxima Centauri, the closest star to the Solar System.

surender gupta dunar amazing facts online In August, astronomers announced they'd detected a planet 1.3 times the mass of the Earth orbiting Proxima Centauri, just 4.2 light years away. The planet, called Proxima b, sits in the so-called Goldilocks zone of the faint red dwarf star, where the average surface temperature of the planet is not too hot, nor too cold, to harbour liquid water.
It's been a bumper few years for "exoplanets" – planets orbiting distant stars – but we will never find a closer one than this.
Astronomer Paul Butler from the Carnegie Institute of Washington said: "What Proxima b does is act like a neon sign: right here, folks, this is not fuzzy or vague, it's the very nearest star in the sky."

surender gupta dunar- A day after he burnt his book in a public protest, author claims Sangh Parivar member assaulted him

Writer-activist Kamal C. Chavara has alleged that he was attacked by a man claiming to be a Sangh Parivar member at Kunnamangalam here on Sunday.
The incident took place at a bar at Karanthur, where, the writer said, the attacker approached him asking if he was the same ‘Kamalsi,’ who had burnt his book publicly on Saturday.
When he said yes, the attacker is alleged to have abused him verbally and then slapped and pushed him. The writer was admitted to the Government General Hospital in Kozhikode.
Mr. Chavara told The Hindu that the attacker claimed that he worshipped Hanuman every day and that he was from Wayanad. “He slapped me and pushed me several times on the chest. He seemed quite drunk. I informed the police and did not leave the bar for two hours as the man had threatened to attack again if I left the place”, he said. The attacker had expressed anger at the burning of a copy of his novel ‘Smashanangalude Note Pusthakam’ here.
The Kunnamangalam police, who took the attacker into custody, described the incident as a drunken brawl. They had not received any complaint and no case was registered.

surender gupta dunar- Accused mainly targeted girls outside schools; 3 cases reported from east Delhi

An alleged paedophile, who had been making weekly visits to the Capital for the past 13 years preying on children, has been arrested.
Sunil Rastogi, a tailor from Rudrapur town on the UP-Uttarakhand border, has been named in at least six cases of sexual assault or attempted sexual assault on children, said the police.
“He mainly targeted those girls whose parents did nor accompany them on their way to school or home and then took them with himself on different pretexts, always looking for a secluded place to sexually assault them,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Omvir Singh Bishnoi.
Three recent cases were reported in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar — one on December 13 and two others on January 12 — where he allegedly targeted girls aged between seven and 10 years.

Trap laid

“In the first case, he told the girl that her father had sent him to pick her up. He then took her to an isolated under-construction building, where he sexually assaulted her,” said Mr. Bishnoi.
The man’s image was, however captured on a CCTV camera on the building’s premises.
The initial clues that the police gathered pointed to the involvement of a habitual offender.
His details were tallied with that of some criminals who had been recently released.
But even as the police were in the process of narrowing down the list, the second incident happened.

Accused flees

On January 12, Rastogi tried to abduct a 10-year-old girl outside the government school where she studies.
As the girl cried for help, he fled, but his next stopover was another government school, barely a kilometre away from the first.
“The second victim, too, raised an alarm, forcing Rastogi to flee,” said Mr. Bishnoi.
Based on technical surveillance and the versions of the victims, the police then identified Rastogi.
“When the three incidents happened, Rastogi was out on bail in a Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act,” said Mr. Bishnoi.

surender gupta dunar news headlines- He blamed the refugee crisis for being the “straw that broke the camel’s back” that triggered Brexit.

surender gupta dunar news headlines-

Chancellor Angela Merkel made a “catastrophic mistake” in letting migrants flood into Germany, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has said in a newspaper interview.
He blamed the refugee crisis for being the “straw that broke the camel’s back” and triggered Britain’s vote last year to leave the European Union.
“I think she made one very catastrophic mistake and that was taking all of these illegals, you know, taking all of the people from wherever they come from,” Trump said yesterday in an interview with The Times of London and Germany’s Bild, adding he had “great respect” for the chancellor.
Some 890,000 migrants, many of them fleeing war in Syria, entered Germany in 2015 after Merkel opened her country’s doors in response to massive pressure on countries along the so-called “Balkan route” into western Europe.

surender gupta dunar news headlines- Centre throws VIP security shield around Kerala BJP brass

surender gupta dunar news headlines- The ‘Y’ category CRPF protection comes after spate of attacks on cadre.

The Centre has granted VIP security cover to four Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Kerala, in response to the State party unit’s allegation that there has been a spate of attacks on its cadres after the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led government came to power.
BJP State president Kummanam Rajasekharan, former State president P.K. Krishnadas, general secretaries M.T. Ramesh and K. Surendran were granted ‘Y’ category security by the Home Ministry a fortnight ago.

12 guards per person

This means around twelve personnel will give them proximity security cover, a senior Home Ministry official said. The Kerala unit of the BJP has alleged that there were more than 400 attacks on its cadres and workers affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the State last year.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been asked to take up the security detail, the Home Ministry official said. Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had raised the issue of attack on BJP and RSS functionaries during a rally in Kozhikode.

Committees assess risk

There are two committees which decide the allocation of a security category: the Protection Review Group and the Security Categorisation Committee, both headed by the Union Home Secretary and including Intelligence Bureau officials. Around 300 individuals are given security cover by central security forces which include CRPF, CISF, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Border Security Force (BSF).
“We grant security on the basis of the assessment done by the intelligence agencies. Their ground reports suggested that the four BJP persons required protection,” the Ministry official.
In December 2016, four RSS functionaries in Punjab were also accorded central security cover. Punjab goes to the polls on February 4.

‘X’ category security

The four RSS leaders — Rameshwar Dass from Ludhiana, Pramod from Amritsar, Ramgopal and Kuldeep Bhagat from Jalandhar were given ‘X’ category security. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which has a specialised VIP security unit was tasked with providing cover to the RSS functionaries. Under the ‘X’ category, about 5-6 armed commandos are deployed with each VIP.

For Over A Year, Woman Lived In $1.2 Million Home With Her Sister's Corpse

surender gupta dunar- Neighbors had expressed concerns about two sisters growing older together in a million-dollar home in an affluent town not far from Boston.

Down a stately tree-lined street in Brookline, Massachusetts, 74-year-old Lynda Waldman and her 67-year-old sister, Hope Wheaton, who were identified by local media, lived in a beautiful but disheveled 1920s home worth $1.2 million, according to online property records.

But about a year and a half ago, the house grew quiet and "unkept," according to a later report.

Neighbors who knew them had been asking Waldman why they hadn't been seeing her sister, according to the Boston Globe.

"We always asked where she was," Harriet Allen, a neighbor and longtime friend, told the newspaper. "She would ignore it."

Since the summer, Brookline police officers had conducted three well-being checks after people reported concerns about the house on Clinton Road as well as the two sisters who lived there. Officers had spoken with Waldman more than once, but she refused their help, Lt. Philip Harrington, with the Brookline Police Department, told The Washington Post.

Then last month, as temperatures hovered around freezing, a relative went by the home to help with the heat - and made a shocking discovery.

Inside the 2 1/2 story home, Wheaton's decaying corpse lay on the kitchen floor, Norfolk district attorney spokesman David Traub told The Washington Post. Traub said there was "substantial decomposition" of the body and "substantial clutter" in the home.

Authorities said they believe Wheaton died in the summer of 2015; her sister, it seems, had been living in the home with Wheaton's body since.

The prosecutor said there were no signs of trauma or foul play, but the medical examiner has not yet determined the cause and manner of death.

On June 8, Brookline police received a call from a person who was concerned about the condition of the home, saying that "they may have abandoned the place," according to police records.

On July 13, records show that someone from Springwell Elder Services asked officers to check on Wheaton because the senior services agency had already made two visits of its own and no one had answered the door.

Officers responded but noted that the "patient has refused any help," according to police records.

More than a week later, a National Grid contractor who was conducting safety checks in the area called police and reported that the house "appears to be unkept and neighbors haven't seen the owners in several weeks," according to the records.

At that time, a resident at the house was checked by the Brookline firefighters and emergency medical services but refused further help.

It wasn't until Dec. 14 that anyone figured out why, according to reports.

According to Brookline TAB newspaper, which first reported the story:

A relative told police when she came over to help put the trash out one December morning, her cousin mentioned the heat wasn't working and was concerned the pipes might burst.

The newspaper reported that the relative took Waldman, the older sister, to another family member's home.

The woman living there later told police her sister had been ill before and would sometimes fall and not be able to get up, so she'd give her water and fudgsicles until she was better. This time her sister didn't get better, and she told police she didn't know what to do.

The Brookline Health Department could not immediately be reached for comment.

Brookline, where John F. Kennedy was born, has a population of 58,000 people, more than 76 percent of whom are white, according to the census. More than 80 percent of those who live there are college-educated, and the median household income is $95,518, according to data.

Neither of the sisters who lived at the Clinton Road home were married, according to reports.

"They were recluses," Allen, the neighbor, told the Boston Globe.

Still, Allen said, Wheaton, the woman who died, was "bright and alert and fun, and we enjoyed each other." Waldman, she said, is "a very bright woman, very well-read, very up on the politics of the day, to this day."

Humayoon Azizi (2-R) the Governor of Kandahar province and Abdullah Mohammed Essa Obaid Al Kaabi (3-R) a top diplomat of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) embassy in Kabul, during a ceremony in Kandahar, Afghanistan, on 10 January 2017.

surender gupta dunar The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has confirmed that five of its officials were killed in a bomb attack in Kandahar in southern Afghanistan.
They died in blasts at the governor of Kandahar's guesthouse on Tuesday, where at least five others were killed.
The governor and the UAE ambassador were among at least a dozen wounded. Kandahar's deputy governor, two senior Afghan officials and two MPs also died.
The attack was one of several in Afghanistan on Tuesday.
The Taliban admitted attacks in the capital Kabul and in Helmand province, but denied the Kandahar attack, instead blaming it on "internal local rivalry".
Afghanistan's Tolo News quoted survivors as saying that the bomb was hidden in a sofa at the guesthouse.
